Climbing into The Lava Beds above Granite Springs Valley April 30-May 1, 2022 I picked this loop from a ride I did in 2019, "What is this The Lava Beds I see on maps?" I saw some roads around and through the area. A plan was born! I had some familiarity with the area, I …

Maybe bikepacking begins going to sleep under the stars. Until then you were just out for a ride with all your stuff. Day 2 began with a push. That push took us from the desert to the canyons of Black Rock Country. We had "flowers up the middle." Although day 2 still had over 2000' of climbing, we had almost 4000' of descending.
Six riders joined me for an overnight into the Calico Mountains as a part of my adventure ride series for @blackrockdesert . We climbed a road between the Calico Mountains Wilderness and High Rock Lake Wilderness. We camped at Donnelly Creek. The weather continues to be unsettled but it made for dramatic skies. #ridewithfriends #explorenevada #bikepackingnv
Fun day on the Little Truckee River between Stampede Reservoir and Boca. Always fun to land a rainbow on a dry that you tied. #tenkara #flyfishing #littletruckeeriver
Return via a sea of sagebrush Part 3 #biketravelweekend #adventurecycling The ride from Vya to the start was mostly familiar through a rolling landscape of sagebrush and canyons. Picture 3 shows the top of Little High Rock Canyon. The flowers along the way made a huge impression. The bird song gave me hope when thinking about bird decline. I hope you get to visit Black Rock Country for yourself and make a connection to the land. #bikepackingnv #wildflowers
What a weekend Part 2; Across the Dark Skies #biketravelweekend I left Summit Lake, traveled along the southern edge of #sheldonnationalwildliferefuge then along #massacrerim wilderness study area to Vya. This area to the north makes me want to push on to the Oregon border. It was a dark night, but windy and rainy. I have a thing for windmills and interpretive signs. #bikeshacking #bikepackingnv
What a weekend! Part 1 of @adventurecycling #biketravelweekend I headed north on Soldier Meadows Road to the Summit Lake Indian Reservation of the Summit Lake Paiute Tribe, Agai Panina Ticutta. While the weather was unsettled the conditions were good. So many flowers, close encounters with the North American Speed Goat (pronghorn), and wide open spaces. #blackrockdesert #bikepackingnv
