2022 Year in Review; Rides with Friends

On January 6, 2023 By Kurstin GrahamIn Annual ReviewLeave a comment

Marc's tarp became Meg's kitchen as we toured the Calico Mountains 2021 ended with a super fun winter tour going into a Good Night 2021 S24O back in Reno. How do you top an ending like that? While we chase superlatives that best past experience, hopefully the chase for bigger, better, and more never gets …

Celebrate the last rays of the day, Hungry Valley When I refer to bicycle touring I include day-tours, overnights, short tours, and long. They all have a place in the pursuit of bike travel. What distinguishes the tour from "just a ride?" A tour has a purpose, a goal of a route, destination, a view …

The bootpack on Steamboat Ditch is a bit chunky but smoother than I anticipated. If you are looking to test your snow/gravel skills I say go for it! The @manzanitacycles gravel bike with 2" studded tires is super confidence inspiring. #gravel #rideoutside #bikepackingbags
The Ward Charcoal Ovens were a highlight of my trip to White Pine County. This unique Nevada State Historical Park is worth the visit. I look forward to a summer tour in the area but I am so glad I caught it on a bluebird day between storms.
So much fat! Fat Bikes! Bristlecone Birkenbeiner was a super success! XC ski, snowshoe and fat bike race in Ely, NV. Hope to see you next year!
These past storms brought a lot of snow/rain/wind/calm/cold/warm weather to Bristlecone Pine Country. Winter in Nevada. I did an overnight south of Ward Charcoal Ovens. The State Park is impressive. I look forward to doing a summer trip here and reading all the interpretive signs.
I just posted the 2022 Review and Highlights on my blog. It was a blast reviewing the year and thinking of all the fun times we got to share between the tough pushes. There is a lot to be planned and ridden in 2023. I hope to see you out there! Link to post in bio.
I try to go #fishing every Monday. My winter spots are usually on the Truckee River by Patrick and Mustang. Yesterday I was on the Carson River south of Gardnerville where it flows out of the Sierras into Carson Valley. This is one of my favorite spots to fish in Nevada. Join me when it's warmer. #travelnevada #flyfishing #mountains #rivers
